Writing workshops at Oliver Art Center support and welcome all aspiring writers and writers.
Michigan Writers will present a reading of Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself”. The poem, a part of “Leaves of Grass” and consisting of 52 cantos, will be read in its entirety at the State Theatre, October 6 at 1 pm. Admission will be free of charge.
Longtime Michigan Writers member, leader and presence Holly Wren Spaulding relocated to Massachusetts, but she’s back (although temporarily) in July! And she’s bringing back one of our long in-demand workshops, her Poetry Boot Camp, for a necessarily limited run.
Marla Kay Houghteling, a Michigan Writers member, will conduct a workshop “Writing Poems from the World in Front of You” at the Bay View Association (a Chautauqua on Lake Michigan) on July 9, 11, 16, 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. The sessions will include using model poems as guides for writing one’s own poems by drawing on observation and memory.
