On Saturday, November 15, come join us for a casual “happy hour” gathering of Michigan Writers members and friends at the InsideOut Gallery. The topic is creativity and belonging. That’s why we’ve invited special guests Good on Paper, an improv comedy group, to get the fun started. We’ll also be playing matchmaker with writing groups (only!). Have fun, meet people, have a drink … enjoy the literary life.
Registration is now open for the new Fall 2014 season at Interlochen’s College of Creative Arts. Explore the many weekend offerings which begin September 13 and run until November 18.
Michigan Writers will host a book launch for the winner of our annual chapbook contest, Robb Astor, of Traverse City. Bitter Dagaa, a collection of 23 poems, is partially rooted in Robb’s experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the United Republic of Tanzania during the mid 1990s.
Michigan Writers welcomes Gordon Henry, who on Saturday afternoon, April 26, will lead a workshop on writing and reading collaboratively with musicians.
Sound Matters: It’s so easy to get carried away the “free” in free verse. This course will give you a few tips to keep your poems lyric and will help give them “flow.”
