Summer/Fall edition of Dunes Review launches with public reading at Brilliant Books in Traverse City
On Saturday, October 18 at 7 PM, the community of Michigan Writers will celebrate the newest issue of its esteemed literary journal, Dunes Review, now in its 19th year of publication. The public reading and reception will take place at Brilliant Books on Front Street in Traverse City, featuring short readings from contributors.
Northern Michigan’s premier literary journal, Dunes Review showcases the best local, regional and national poetry, short fiction and essays.
“One of the things I love best about Dunes Review is that while we always will have a strong contingent of contributors from Michigan and our local area in particular, we also publish work from individuals from all over the country, meaning that this little book makes its way out into the world and carries a piece of northern Michigan to readers elsewhere,” says Senior Editor Jennifer Yeatts.
“The Dunes Review is central to the mission of Michigan Writers, and it represents the best of what we do,” adds Daniel Stewart, President of Michigan Writers. “For the launch we bring together poets, essayists and fiction writers with their readers — and some wine and cheese — all in one space. It’s a potent mix, and always a joyful occasion.”
Dunes Review is published twice per year. Submissions for the next issue, which will print in the spring, will open after the October reading, including poetry submissions for the annual William J. Shaw Memorial Prize.
