On Thursday evening, September 19, Dog Ears Books in Northport will host a reception for award-winning Leelanau author Donald Lystra. Lystra will read from his new collection of short stories, Something  that Feels like Truth, published by Switchgrass Books, an imprint  of Northern Illinois University Press. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m.

As a resident of both Ann Arbor and Omena, Lystra finds Michigan a  natural setting for his stories. His novel, Season of Water and Ice, set in central northern Michigan, garnered both a Michigan Notable Books  Award and the Midwest Book Award for Fiction in 2010. Booklist, review arm  of the American Library Association, has called the new book “luminous … a  stellar collection of masterfully crafted gems,” while Traverse City author Mardi  Link calls Lystra a “precise and merciless writer, a master of that moment when  life changes, often irreversibly.”
