| Michigan Writers is proud to be a partner in the YourPlace project, and we invite our members to contribute essays and articles. |
Michigan Writers, Inc. was launched in the summer of 2001 when more than two dozen area writers pooled talents and resources to form an organization dedicated to helping writers hone their craft and publish their work.
Our mission: To encourage and support writers of all ages, skill levels, and genres in the Great Lakes state by providing opportunities for networking, publication, and education.
To that end, Michigan Writers holds regular events where members can meet and mingle, including potluck buffets and writers groups. We co-publish the Dunes Review literary journal and have launched our own Cooperative Press, which publishes outstanding chapbooks. Once a month we host Michigan Writers On the Air (IPR News Radio 91.5 FM), which features interviews with local and visiting writers. We hold workshops on all aspects of writing and publishing for writers at all levels of their development. And we help members keep in touch and informed through our web site and through Michigan Writers News, a regular e-mail newsletter.
Our membership continues to grow as we find new ways to support and enhance our community of writers and readers. Won’t you join us?
You can contact Michigan Writers by mail at P.O. Box 1505, Traverse City, MI 49685, or send us an email at info@michwriters.org.
