Michigan Writers launched the Cooperative Press Series in 2005 to give members a new avenue to publication. Manuscripts of poetry, short stories, and essays are solicited from members and adjudicated by a panel of experienced writers. Selected authors share the publishing costs and marketing responsibilities with Michigan Writers in return for the prestige of being published by a press that prints only carefully selected manuscripts.
The Cooperative Press published its first chapbooks in December 2005. Its newest titles were released April 10, 2008.
